Insightful strategies, impactful results

NUNLAI: For the sake of humanity.

Nunlai Research and Consulting, LLC, is a Liberian woman-owned research and consulting firm based in Monrovia, Liberia. Our name is pronounced “nun-lie”, is a word in the Kpelle vernacular that means “the business of human being” or in other words, “for the sake of humanity”. We explore the cultural, social, economic, and environmental context which defines the experiences of vulnerable populations in Liberia, and the African Continent.

Mission: Through our research, writing, public engagements, and training, we identify the existing limitations in socioeconomic and environmental issues to provide alternative policy solutions. Our goal is to create spaces for these experiences to be voiced and contribute to the evolving policy debates on the continent and in the diaspora.

Working across multiple levels, we employ African feminist research methodology, which differs from traditional research by uncovering the socioeconomic power imbalances and inequalities that underlying Africa’s development challenges.

Utilizing this research lens, we explore the nexus between gender inequality and our three key pillars:

  • National & International Development

  • Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Sustainable Natural Resource Management
